Getting You Moving

“I wish I’d known this years ago, and got help so much earlier.”

Are you having to think about your bladder and bowel too often?
Do you have to think about where the loos are?
Are you watching your fluids and trying not to drink too much – just in case?
Does your pelvic floor feel it could do with some help to keep some things in and let other things out?
Is sex not quite as straightforward as it should be?
Are you in pain in your pelvic area?

Bladder and bowel problems can be about leaking and not holding on, or about not emptying well. These difficult problems can affect men and women – and NO – it isn’t something that you should expect with ageing and put up with.
Pelvic floor problems can cause anxiety, pain, physical limitations and embarrassment.

Women’s Health conditions:
Common bladder problems are leakage with activity or coughing (stress incontinence) or urge (urge incontinence), going too often (frequency) in the day and night or not emptying properly.
Vaginal prolapse (a feeling of something coming down or vaginal discomfort) is very common and can be very bothersome and sore
Common bowel problems include leaking, staining, losing wind or struggling to empty and straining too much
Pain – can be general or specific to vaginal, clitoral, anal - and may come and go

Men’s Health conditions:
Erectile dysfunction
Prostate related bladder problems - that might be before or after surgical treatment
Bowel problems – infrequent, hard to pass or too soft and hard to keep in
Pain – pelvic, penile or anal

It is not uncommon for men and women to avoid getting help for these problems because of embarrassment or not knowing that there are things that can be done.
A pelvic floor health assessment can be the start of understanding how your body works, the cause of your symptoms and learning what you can do to help.
